Showcasing the San Francisco Peninsula

The San Mateo County/Silicon Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau hosted an annual tourism luncheon in celebration of its 50th anniversary, while also introducing a new name and branding for the destination: The San Francisco Peninsula—South of San Francisco, North of Expectations.
A rigorous expert-led research process cast a wide net to ensure the bureau heard from all community stakeholders, including more than 1,800 traveler surveys. The new name, The San Francisco Peninsula, is a direct response to the feedback. Going forward, the region will be promoted using this new name and look to continue its mission to support local tourism for its 140+ member hotels and nearly 300 tourism-related partners in San Mateo County.
“It’s an exciting time for California’s travel industry as tourism continues to rebound from the pandemic, but there is still a long way to go toward full recovery,” said Caroline Beteta, president and CEO of Visit California. “California’s gateway regions were hit the hardest with the loss of meetings business and international travel, but as those sectors begin to return, our partners here in the San Francisco Peninsula will welcome them, showcasing the dynamic offerings of San Mateo County.”
