Leeds wins bid for European Society of Translations Studies Congress
The city of Leeds has been chosen as the very first UK city to host the Congress of the European Society of Translation Studies (EST), which is set to arrive at the University of Leeds from June 30-July 4, 2025.
Leeds was selected as the host destination for the upcoming congress following a competitive selection process headed up by Dr. Sara Ramos Pinto, associate professor in translation studies at the University of Leeds.
“We are delighted to have confirmed Leeds as the very first UK host destination for the European Society of Translation Studies Congress in 2025,” Dr. Pinto said. “The University of Leeds is a member of CIUTI (Conférence internationale permanente d’instituts universitaires de traducteurs et interprètes), the world’s oldest and most prestigious international association of university institutes with translation and interpretation programs, making it a fantastic venue choice. We’ve had a great response to the news that the congress will be making its way to Leeds in 2025 and, following an extremely successful event in Oslo this year, we’re looking forward to welcoming over 500 delegates to the vibrant city of Leeds.”
The conference will also offer delegates the opportunity to experience even more of Leeds with a conference dinner already in the planning stages at the city’s very own Royal Armouries. Located on the picturesque Leeds Dock, delegates will be given the chance to network in one of Leeds’ iconic venues, a sister venue to the Tower of London.
