San Antonio remains a top US travel destination
The city of San Antonio has rebounded as a top travel spot despite evolving tourism challenges caused by COVID-19. In 2020, the first year of the pandemic, San Antonio experienced a low of 23 million visitors. In 2022, it welcomed an astonishing 34.8 million visitors, which produced its highest economic impact in history of $19 billion.
Based on these impressive numbers, Marc Anderson, president and CEO of Visit San Antonio, predicts the city will exceed its pre-pandemic records in 2024.
San Antonio continues to attract visitors with traditional offerings, such as luxury hotels, trendy restaurants, exceptional entertainment and notable cultural attractions. San Antonio also holds global appeal with its UNESCO World Heritage Site designation and UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy destination.
Anderson said that elements such as San Antonio’s temperate climate and ease of transport with an international airport also play a role in its ongoing, year-round popularity.
