Harpa earns Nordic Swan Ecolabel certification
Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Centre has completed all five Green Steps of the Environment Agency of Iceland. The Green Steps Program is developed for government agencies in Iceland (Harpa is run as a public organization and is owned by the state and the City of Reykjavík) with the overall aim of promoting environmental awareness among employees as well as decreasing environmental impacts from daily operations in the public sector.
Another important step on this path is the Nordic Swan Ecolabel certification of Harpa's conference facilities, which was granted in 2022. The Swan is the official Nordic Ecolabel based on independent certification and criteria that confirms the strict environmental and quality requirements of the operation. The purpose of the Swan is to promote the sustainable development of society with the benefit of future generations as a guide and to offer consumers a choice of environmentally friendly options.
Harpa's sustainability journey began in 2015 with environmental and climate policy. Since then the company's environmental work has been systematically implemented. The focus has been on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, minimizing negative environmental impacts through targeted actions and regularly measuring the results.
