Lighten up your mental health at the MECC conference center in Maastricht
Event planners consider a lot of factors when choosing the right event space, but how many take the mental health of their conference delegates into consideration?
Building on the fact that buildings with ample daylight can enhance the mood and productivity of an event as well as reduce stress and anxiety, the MECC conference center in the Dutch city of Maastricht underwent a renovation a few years ago in which a glass shell was built around it. This has brought more light, open space and connection with the outside world.
Debby Tucker, the executive director of the International Association for Women’s Mental Health, held the 9th World Congress of her association at the MECC and was impressed with the redesign.
“The quality and layout of the meeting space in the MECC was outstanding,” she said. “The auditorium was perfect for our plenary and large symposia. The breakout rooms on the lower level allowed us our largest number of concurrent parallel sessions in a configuration that allowed movement easily within the space.”
